I saw this with my own eyes yesterday. Here it goes.
Around 5:32 PM yesterday, I was sitting near the door on a WoodLawn Bound
Train. A guy came on, and he stood next to the opposite door near a Indian Guy with his son. He saw the son, and said "Hi little boy." He immediately goes to a woman whos sitting in a seat, and orders her to get up so the kid can sit. She refuses and the guy gets mad but then the father said "No, its alright." The guy grunted, and returned next to the door. The train stopped at Brooklyn Bridge, and a 15 year old kid comes on carrying a bucket, sticks, and a flute. After the doors close, he yells, "Ladies and Gentlemen, sorry for the interruption today but-" he gets cut off by the guy saying "Shut UP!" The kid returns to what hes saying "But today Im trying to get money to buy a new drum for my band. So please If you can listen.." "I said Shut UP!" The guy yells and everyone looks at him. I knew this was gonna get out of hand, so I tried to move to the next car but the door was jammed. The kid starts playing music, and the guy returns to the Indian guy's son and says "Dont worry, hes stupid." The father clutches his son, he did not want him to talk or touch his son, but he didn't want to get into a fight. The guy stands up and says " Come one, shut up! Your hurting the poor kid." Another guy thats standing next to the kid whos playing music tells him "Leave him alone, hes not doing anything to you." "Who the f*ck was talking to you?" the guy responds. The guy looks at him and turns away. I look out the window and see Worth Street and I groaned. Ethier this train was going to make it to 14 Street without a fight, or it would make it to 14 Street with someone having a broken nose. "Lady didnt I tell you to get up?" the guy speaks to the lady whos sitting down again. "Please, I dont want any trouble." The lady responds. The guy laughs, and the kid stops playing music. He says "Thank you very much!" and takes off his cap and walks to where I'm standing, gathering money. He walks to the lady who the guy yelled at, and she gives him a dollar. The guy yells again "See, you dont say thank you! B*tch's like you aren't grateful for nothing. Gimme that!" the guy says and grabs the boys hat. I look out the window again, Spring Street. The boy gets stunned, and pushes the guy off. He crashes into the door, and jumps on him. Now everyone was moving toward the other end of the car trying to open the jammed door. I raced to the other side, turning on the emergency intercom, but either the conductor wasnt paying attention, or the mic was broken because the Green Light stayed on and turned off. I look back at the fight, and the guy was now trying to get his hands on the kid. The kid swats his hands, and the guy slaps the kids face. Now the kid jumped on the man, and he staggered back and almost squished me when he fell. I ran to the other side again fumbling for my phone, and found out it had no charge. I pushed people aside, and banged on the door hoping a person on the other train car would hear me. I look back and I see the man over the boy, trying to squish him. A guy, the same one who told the other guy to back off, jumped in and pried the guy off the kid. I look out the window, Astor Place. We were close. Another man jumped in defending the kid, and the both of them threw the guy against the door. He was trying to get away, but those guys had a hard grip. "This is 14 Street, Union Square" the announcement said. I was so relived, and the train stopped at the station. When the doors opened, the guy pulled his knees up to one of the men, and he fell down. He then swatted the other man and he let go, and the guy raced out of the
train to get on the
train that was preparing to leave. The men got up and raced after him, but the train doors closed and the guy made it in. The men were banging on the door, yelling at the conductor to stop the train, but he didnt. They let go, and they swore. They came back on the
and asked, "Where's the kid?" All of us looked around, and he was gone. A lady went out of the train to talk to the station manager, and I followed her. I said this was to much for me, so I just went and got on a
train. I was glad no one was hurt, so I just stared at the FIND.
This is the type of problems we are dealing with everyday on the subway. The MTA must put cameras in Subways, to stop this from happening.
